WaterKit Institute Limited is a registered Ugandan NGO headquartered in Ayere, Barapwo, Lira City West. Founded in February 2026, we operate exclusively for charitable purposes under Uganda’s Non-Governmental Organizations Act 2016, registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau and Kole District Local Government.
Our governing board draws from community leaders, subject matter experts, civic representatives, and educators — selected through a transparent, independent process to ensure we remain accountable to the communities we serve.

Improving community health by constructing sanitation facilities, promoting handwashing, and running behaviour-change campaigns on essential hygiene practices.

Every decision we make starts and ends with the communities we serve. We listen before we act, and we measure our success by the lasting difference we make in people’s daily lives — not by the number of projects we complete.
We believe water, sanitation, food, energy, and climate are one interconnected system. We refuse to treat them in isolation, because communities do not experience them in isolation.
We design every intervention to outlast our presence. We build local capacity, train community leaders, and establish management structures so that gains are protected long after our teams have moved on.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of transparency in the use of funds, the reporting of results, and the conduct of our staff and partners. We are answerable first to the communities we serve.

One of the youthful organisations born out of necessity, WaterKit Institute was born out of the need to deliver better charity impact at a reduced budget in a world where access to donations has increasingly become challenging! We started the beautiful idea during a group open-ideas day at our little community impact space in Lira City, Uganda. In just under a year of operations, we are already making a real impact in the rural communities of Kole District where we operate!
